We will only consider stocking titles in our store when the author has followed the process outlined below.
Congratulations for taking this huge step in your writing career! We wouldn't be where we are without storytellers like you, and we are excited to hear about your novel.
We know that as an author, it is critical to champion your work. We completely appreciate all that goes into selling your hard work. With that said, we are a small team here at The Book Bird, with a carefully curated set of shelves. Therefore, we ask that authors not send or bring galleys or for-sale titles to the bookshop unsolicited. We also ask that authors not call the store asking to put their books on our shelves. The best way to get your book in front of The Book Bird shoppers is to be known in our community - that is, to shop in our store and attend our events.
If you are interested in having your title stocked on our shelves, please email hello@thebook-bird.com with the following information:
First and Last Name
Email and Phone Number
Your relationship to the author
Title of Work
ISBN Number
Publisher
Where the title is available (ie through a distributor like Ingram? Note that we do not work with Amazon as a distributor)
2-3 sentence explanation as to why your title would be a good fit for The Book Bird
Have you shopped at The Book Bird?
Have you attended any events at The Book Bird (honesty is the best policy!)
Once received, we will evaluate your publication for fit and fiscal feasibility. Typically, we only stock titles which are available through Ingram, our wholesaler, at a regular discount and which are also returnable. In some cases (at our discernment as professional booksellers), we will offer 50/50 consignment.
Please know that we will not consider stocking your title if you do not follow this process. We appreciate your respect for our time and dedication to the continued growth of our store.
